This course focuses on guitar performance and music-reading skills for students who have had little to no formal background with the instrument. Students will be introduced to the parts of the guitar, reading tabs, reading treble clef music, naming the notes on the fretboard in first position, playing commonly used chords, chord progressions, and critiquing professional recordings students listen to in their everyday lives. Instructions are given during class on school guitars. Although it is not a requirement to own a personal guitar, it is highly suggested to further practice the course material and any music that may be of interest to the student
